The stark reality of what is going to happen on 1st January – even if some kind of Brexit deal is struck – may have only just hit home with many this week.
For those with family members living in EU countries, not only will there be the anticipated red tape complications to contend with in order to be re-united with our nearest and dearest in the future, but, whilst the COVID pandemic rages, the borders are effectively shut for family visits between the UK and the rest of Europe.
The news will have come as a bitter blow to large numbers of families right across Cheshire.
What is even worse: after 1st. January, the UK will have no influence over the health and economic policies of the 27 countries in the EU – our closest neighbours and trading partners.
So much for “taking back control”.
