The CEO’s Report to the East Cheshire NHS Trust Board Meeting on 2nd. July indicated that the assumption was that it was not likely that these services would return to our local hospital at least until October.
Requests for information and reassurance have met with a blank.
Given the long-running history of periodic question marks over the future of maternity services in East Cheshire, there is increasing concern that the financial and other pressures that will be faced by the Trust Board in the autumn could result in the current suspension being extended. Local people need to know what might happen.
There needs to be a full consultation if any long-term changes are being considered. We cannot allow vital, local health services to be quietly removed under cover of the coronavirus crisis.
